I’m a permanent resident or U.S. citizen, but I attended a university or college outside of the United States. Do I need to submit the transcript?
Yes. All transcripts, including international transcripts, must be provided during the application process. A foreign credentials transcript evaluation (WES evaluations are only accepted) for each international transcript must be sent electronically directly to PharmCAS. An official copy of each international transcript (native language and certified English translation) describing all academic programs attempted must be sent directly to the Office of Student Affairs upon acceptance into the PharmD program. Texas A&M Rangel College of Pharmacy: ATTN: Office of Student Affairs 1010 West Avenue B Kingsville, TX 78363
Is a bachelor’s degree required?
Students are not required to have a bachelor’s degree to be admitted to the pharmacy program. Students must complete 71-72 semester credit hours of pre-pharmacy coursework.
When should the PCAT be taken?
RSOP has opted to make the PCAT optional for the current admission cycle. If applicants choose to take the exam, please take it early in the admissions process. Test are offered in January, July, September, October and November. Visit the PCAT website for testing dates.
What PCAT score is required for admission?
The TAMU School of Pharmacy PCAT admissions requirement for the 2023-2024 cycle is optional and applicants will not be required to take the PCAT. The School of Pharmacy will accept PCAT scores at the discretion of the applicant if they choose to provide them in support of their academic preparedness. An applicant can opt to submit their official PCAT scores as part of the Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) application.
What GPA is required for admission?
To be considered for admission, students must have a cumulative GPA, as determined by PharmCAS, of 2.75 or higher and a GPA of 2.75 or higher in the required pre-pharmacy coursework.
How is my GPA calculated for repeated courses?
We base our cumulative GPA calculations off of PharmCAS. PharmCAS averages the courses. If the repeated course is a pre-requisite, we will take the most recent grade.
What major field of study will prepare me for pharmacy school?
There is no specific major a student must declare to apply for pharmacy school. However, we recommend students follow a biology or chemistry degree plan during their undergraduate studies. Refer to pre-pharmacy coursework for the specific courses needed.
Students are required to complete 71-72 semester credit hours of pre-pharmacy coursework. For more information, visit our prerequisites page. Students must earn a C or better in all pre-pharmacy coursework. A C- is not accepted. Students can email our office to submit unofficial copies of their transcripts for a pre-evaluation. Prerequisite coursework completed five or more calendar years prior to applying must be retaken unless the applicant has earned a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree.
Will a bachelor's degree waive any of the required pre-pharmacy coursework?
No. All students must complete 71-72 semester credit hours of the required pre-pharmacy coursework.
What if I earned AP, IB, CLEP, or Dual Credit?
Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College Level Examination Program (CLEP), and Dual Credit are accepted if posted on your transcript from an accredited U.S. college or university. If you received college credit on a transcript for an AP or IB test subject, report the test credit as a course in the coursework section of the PharmCAS application. If not posted on your transcript, you may arrange for the testing agency to send those scores directly to the Rangel School of Pharmacy. Do not send to PharmCAS. This information should be sent to the following address:
Texas A&M Rangel School of Pharmacy ATTN: Office of Student Affairs 1010 West Avenue B Kingsville, TX 78363
