Message from the Dean

Welcome to the Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy!

I am deeply honored to serve as the founding dean of this school and its diverse group of students, faculty, and staff along with alumni and preceptors who make up our pharmacy family – or ‘pharmily’ as we call it.  Whether you are a first-time visitor to our website or a prospective student exploring options for pharmacy education, I invite you to look at our exceptional educational programs, some of the exciting research conducted by our faculty, and at the many engaging community service events organized by our students.

I am delighted to share with you that our school has received acclaim for its state-of-the-art integrated professional pharmacy curriculum, innovative ‘holistic’ admissions process, comprehensive experiential education, and a culture of assessment that is geared toward overall programmatic excellence.  The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) cited our program exemplary in the nation for four of its accreditation standards.  Our Pharm.D. program’s ‘Full Accreditation Status’ has been reaffirmed in June 2016, and is effective through June 2024.

The Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel School of Pharmacy has graduated 869 students among 10 cohorts to date.  It maintains a low student-to-faculty ratio of 8:1 and enrolls approximately 41% under-represented minorities (URM).  The school ranks first in the state of Texas for the lowest tuition and fees among accredited professional pharmacy degree programs, as per the American Association of College of Pharmacy, and is ranked second in the nation as the most affordable pharmacy program as per The College Affordability Guide

Our diverse, vibrant, and highly dedicated faculty and staff are deeply committed to helping students reach their highest potential.  Our quest for excellence is fueled by an unparalleled commitment to exceptional education, impactful research, and compassionate care.  As Aggies, we strive to live our core values – excellence, leadership, loyalty, integrity, and service – in all that we do.

I invite you to peruse our website and learn more about our program.  You can read about or hear from our faculty and students.  Please consider scheduling a personal visit to our campus – I invite you to call my office at 361.221.0600 or e-mail your requests and inquiries to

If you are interested in pursuing a pharmacy career in a welcoming environment, you have found it!  Welcome!
