About the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Temple, in conjunction with Texas A&M University Rangel School of Pharmacy, offers an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency designed to provide a broad experience in hospital pharmacy.

Our residents focus on the comprehensive care of patients through evaluation and intervention of medication orders, interdisciplinary rounding, antimicrobial stewardship, education and research.

PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.

  • Provide inservices to health care providers

Application Requirements

  • Have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy
  • Eligible for Texas licensure by September 1
  • Have a strong interest in clinical practice at a teaching facility

Applicants must also submit through the online PhORCAS system:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • A letter of intent detailing reason for interest in completing a PGY1 pharmacy residency, short and long-term career goals, and how our program will assist in meetings those goals
  • Three ASHP letters of recommendation forms (located in PhORCAS). Preferred authors of your letters ranked from most to least desired: P4 preceptors, employers, college faculty, committee and personal colleagues
  • Academic transcripts for professional pharmacy education
